Kareena Kapoor Khan was born on 21 September 1980 into the Kapoor film family. She is the youngest daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Kareena Kapoor says that she wanted to be heroine even when she was in her mother’s womb. As a child she had strong aspirations to become an actress, and her childhood favourites were Bollywood actresses Nargis and Meena Kumari. Not only this, when Kareena was a child, she would regularly dress up in her mother’s clothes and perform in front of the mirror.

Kareena Kapoor was initially scheduled to make her debut in Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai(2000), opposite Hrithik Roshan. However, she left the film later and made her debut in JP Dutta’s war drama Refugee. Her debut performance was acclaimed by critics. Kareena Kapoor got her first filmfare debut award for this movie.
