AR Rahman to rock London Olympics!

By Hindustan Times

After teaming up for films, music composer AR Rahman and Hollywood filmmaker Danny Boyle will work together again. This time, to compose a part of the score for the opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012 (July 27-August 12). Boyle, who is directing the ceremony, has worked with Rahman in films such as Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours.

“I am doing a track for him (Boyle) for the Olympics. It’s one of the songs for the opening ceremony. It’s a secret,” Rahman was quoted as saying. When we contacted him for details, Rahman refused to discuss the score, saying that it is in its early stage.

Apart from Rahman, Indian music composer Ilayaraja’s composition too will be a part of the inaugural programme. His Tamil song, Naanthaan Ungappanda, from Kamal Hassan’s 1980 film Ram Lakshman, has made it to the playlist.

Indian celebrities expected to attend the Olympics are filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and actors Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan. “Farhan is finalising his trip as per the schedule of the key athletic contests in which India is participating,” says a source.
