Its official: Dengue killed Yash Chopra
There have been doubts over the reason of sudden demise of veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra. It was not yet clear whether he died of dengue, multi-organ failure or heart attack until Lilavati submitted a report mentioning the cause of Yash Chopra’s actually reason of death yesterday.
The report submitted by Lilavati hospital where the late filmmaker was admitted cleared the reason of his death. The hospital authority said that he actually passed away due to “sepses with pneumonia, with multiple-organ failure, with dengue”. The BMC said that they will accept only the hospital authority ascertain the actual reason of death. The BMC on 23 October ascertained that they will take stand only after the death committee confirmed the actual reason of death.
“Chopra developed secondary infections after dengue, which soon developed into sepsis. He had fever, headache, and breathlessness for three days before being admitted to the hospital. He was taking treatment, but he didn’t respond well to it. He died during a very short span of illness, which can be only attributed to his old age,” said a state health official, on condition of anonymity.
“The death review committee found that his condition deteriorated from the third day. He was old, and dengue worsened it. He was taking medicines for dengue from the OPD,” said a doctor.
However, civic official’s categorically denied that they haven’t received any communiqué in this regard. “We have not received any report as yet. We are expecting it in a couple of days,” additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said.
The municipal corporation at that time refused to admit that dengue was the cause of death. “After experts scrutinize the reasons for his demise, the cause of death will be announced,” additional municipal commissioner Mohan Adtani had said then.
Yash Chopra became of the victim who lost their life to his disease that has reported 702 cases this year.
After the death of Yash Chopra, civic body run a programme against dengue threat in the city.
